The orientation for the new batch of LLM took place on 7th August, 2018 (Tuesday), at Room # 908 at Kirit P. Mehta School of Law, from 11.00am onwards.
The programme started with an introduction by Prof. Sunil George (Area Chairperson) where he briefed the students about the LLM course, its structure and pattern.
After which, Dean Sir (Dr. Alok Mishra) took over and spoke to the students about his own study background, achievements and also guided them about the specialisation regarding their course which was divided into two parts i.e. Corporate Law & Intellectual Property Law and how the course can help them gain a position in life. He also addressed the students on how they could improve on their qualifications and skills which according to him had a direct bearing and nexus to what they could earn apart from the inner satisfaction and a social status. Dean Sir also offered to the LLM students a platform where they could even attend lectures from the LLB course classes and revise the basics of which they have already studied or to bridge the gap which may have been created. Dean Sir also encouraged students to become members of various committees for professional development.
This was followed by Prof. Rakesh Nambiar taking over and giving the students a brief idea of the extra-curricular and co-curricular activities taking place in the campus. He told them about the different committees like the Moot committees, Research committees, etc. and the different cultural events, seminars and special guest lectures that take place, sports activities that take place and that the LLM students could be a part of it to learn and also to guide their juniors.
After which, Mr. Sohel Qureshi from the I.T. Department of the campus gave the students a briefing about how to use the campus wi-fi, besides guided them on how to access the NMIMS students portal of the college and its features.
Sangeeta Madam, the librarian then briefed the students about the access to the library, issuing of books and some rules and guidelines which were to be followed in the library.
Keyur Gandhi, a student of the LLB course shared information about the Chancellor’s Challenge and how the LLM students could contribute to it and even gain something out of it.
This was followed by the Psychologist and Counsellor, Dr. Meeta Shah and Mr. Joel Gibbs giving the students details of how a student under study pressure gets stressed and depressed, and in such a situation how they could seek guidance /counselling from them.
Ms. Chetna Lal and Mr. Ajay Singh from the Placement and Project Cell were introduced to the students who in turn gave a basic idea regarding the placement and projects.
Ms. Neena Jamsandekar (Asst. Registrar) and Ms. Anupama from the Administration Cell were also introduced to the students.
The Orientation programme ended with a vote of thanks presented by Prof. Sunil George followed by Lunch.
The new students of LLM batch were also taken on a tour of the premises and were guided and showed the campus.
